Emergency Corona Appeal – Please help us to help the poor people in Bangladesh

Under the current crisis of COVID-19, also known as coronavirus, the UK and Bangladesh Governmental guidelines state that we should prevent unnecessary social gatherings and contacts, stay at home and stay safe. We are in effect in a lockdown, and cannot go outside unless it is for certain necessary exceptions.

In UK the government and the private sector are able to support the people. However, the poor people of the Greater Sylhet Area in Bangladesh are greatly affected by the lockdown due to coronavirus.

The poor & needy people such as day labourers need our help and support in this situation, for basic food and medication. The Tigers International Association – TIA based in UK would like to appeal to everyone to donate Zakat/Fitra or any sort of Sadakah in advance as we know holy month of Ramadan is almost at our doorstep.

Therefore, please donate as much as you can to support the poor and needy in the Greater Sylhet Area so that we may provide food parcels and medication for them.

Tigers International Association – TIA in UK is a voluntary and nationwide charity organisation established in 2000. TIA registered with the Charity Commission in the UK in 2004 and is governed by the memorandum and Articles of the Association. The organisation is run by Board of Directors selected from UK and abroad.

TIA has few directors and members in Bangladesh and we have overwhelming volunteers in that region. TIA works with various establishments and agencies in the UK and has linked with government for the welfare of the British Bangladeshi community in the UK and wider society for community cohesion and integrations with the British society.

Up to 95% of Bangladeshis living in the United Kingdom either originate or come from the Greater Sylhet Region (Sylhet, Maulvibazar, Habiganj and Sunamganj) of Bangladesh. The people of Sylhet have made great contributions to the construction of their homeland (Bangladesh), as well as towards the present multi-racial British society and have a natural link with Greater Sylhet and thus, they always extend their helping hands for any cause be it for the war for liberation as it was in 1971 or for helping Bangladesh as a whole in natural calamities like cyclone or floods.

Despite such a record or contribution and devotion, it is said that the community and its region back in Bangladesh faced multiple deprivation in all aspects of life.

The Tigers International Association – TIA in UK would like to appeal to everyone to donate Zakat/Fitra or any sort of Sadakah to the poor people of the Greater Sylhet Area in Bangladesh who greatly affected by the lockdown due to coronavirus. The holy month of Ramadan is almost at our doorstep. Therefore, please donate as much as you can so that we may provide food parcels and medication for them.
